Andrew Packer has been the Associate Director of Bands at Glenbard East since 2012.  His ensembles and classes include Concert Band, Percussion Class, Intermediate Band, Chorale, Advanced Treble Choir, Baritone Choir, Piano 1 & 2, AP Music Theory, Hip Hop Productions, and Marching Band. Mr. Packer came to East from Marian Catholic High School, where he developed the Varsity Band, directed all percussion activities, and served as Assistant Director of Bands.  He is also a percussionist in the Wheaton Municipal Band and serves on its Board of Directors.

Mr. Packer is from Newburgh, Indiana, where he attended Castle High School and received the John Philip Sousa Band Award.  He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.  Mr. Packer participated in the U of I Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Marching Illini, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, and Basketball Band.  During his undergraduate years, Mr. Packer marched two summers with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from Rosemont, Illinois, participating in a world championship in 2004.  He earned his Master of Music Education plus certification from U of I in 2007.  Mr. Packer also received the Guy M. Duker Band Award in 2006 from the U of I band department.  He has performed for audiences all over the country and in Japan. His professional memberships include NAfME, ILMEA, and PAS. Mr. Packer is an artist with Innovative Percussion, Inc. and Remo, Inc.

Mr. Packer's mentors and teachers include Joseph Manfredo, James Keene, Glenn Northern, Tom Dean, William Moersch, Ricardo Flores, Diane Shinn, Greg Bimm, and Bobby Lambert.

Mr. Packer lives in Lombard with his wife, Roxanne, the Music Director at St. Luke Parish in River Forest, and their children, Gwendolyn, Bertille, John, and Maria.
